Home / Socio- Pastoral Research Project in Parishes
The title of the project is Know Your Parish: Grow in Communion. It is a process based on investigation, information, interpretation, inspiration, and finally integration, leading to the revival of the overall life in local communities. It is an innovative methodology aimed at bringing revolutionary changes to the pastoral practices in parish communities. The major methodology involves scientific studies centred on the parish, sharing the findings with the local community, arriving at a decision and executing it through community participation, and finally anticipatively involving the overall revival of the faith life of the parish. After the collection, classification, analysis, and interpretation of primary data gathered from the parish, it is placed before the discerning community for prayerful reflection and community discernment on various theological and pastoral issues in pastoral administration. This will eventually lead to a critical examination of the existing system of pastoral administration. The ultimate goal is to adopt a participatory method in pastoral practice based on the principles of “community participation in decision-making,” eventually enabling the practice of “subsidiary,” “delegation of power,” and “facilitating leadership.” The PAROC research team is ready to support parishes in conducting socio-pastoral studies and preparing pastoral plans.
