PAROC Explorations in Pastoral Theology II

International Webinar on

Pastoral Conversion and Evangelizing Mission of the Parish Community

PAROC Hall, Marymatha Major Seminary, Thrissur
18-19, 26-27 September 2020

The Instruction from the Congregation for the Clergy (2020) “Pastoral Conversion of the Parish Community in Service of the Evangelizing Mission of the Church” is relevant and worth studying in the Indian Context today. Many of the parishes in India, especially in Kerala are in need of rejuvenating the missionary focus of their activities. Often the parish communities channelize their evangelizing energy to engage in constructions, celebrations etc. and they lose their missionary focus. The document places the evangelizing mission as the raison d'être of the parish communities. It calls for a pastoral conversion of structures, ministers and the parish communities as a whole. The PAROC in this Webinar wants to explore various strategies for the pastoral conversion of the parish communities as envisaged by Pope Francis and the said document.

In the year 2020, the theme of the PAROC Explorations in Pastoral Theology was Pastoral Conversion and Evangelizing Mission of the Parish Community in the light of Instruction given from the Congregation for the Clergy: “Pastoral Conversion of the Parish Community in Service of the Evangelizing Mission of the Church ". The Symposium was convened on 18th – 20th& 26th – 27th September 2020. The Webinar is coordinated in two parts: a. Scholars Conference in which Experts in various fields participate and contribute (18th to 19th September) and b. Practitioners Conference, where priests, religious, lay leaders and seminarians participate (20th and 27th to 28th September). Each day webinar is scheduled to 3pm to 5pm (IST) via Zoom.
