The Forum of Experts in Social Sciences is an initiative aimed at coordinating the knowledge and skills of experts in social sciences to contribute to the development of society, especially in the Catholic community, through research programs. It is a voluntary association of experts in the social sciences, who would like to contribute their expertise to building up the nation, society, and Catholic community through continuous community research programmes. The emphasis is on the gathering of data, analysis, exchange of ideas, and dissemination of findings. It suggests a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to research, which can be valuable in policymaking. The Forum has the following objectives: networking of scholars, enhancement of research skills of scholars, networking of different academic institutes, addressing different issues of society, especially the Catholic community, community building, nation building, intercultural studies, studies on the environment, and interdisciplinary research approaches. Experts in 13 disciplines are part of this venture.
One can join the forum in two ways: as a member or collaborator. Members voluntarily and actively participate in research projects without disturbing their academic and other responsibilities. They shall contribute to the forum through research and publishing the findings. Qualification for membership shall be preferably a Ph.D. or at least a Master’s Degree. Collaborators: The criteria for being a collaborator of the Forum provide a framework for engaging scholars who are experts in their fields of research and may not be full members but can contribute to the forum’s research work. All practitioners and scholars in the social sciences can join the forum as collaborators. Membership will be for a period of ‘two years’ after which it can be renewed.
